Achieve engineering excellence.
Scale your impact,
team and business.
These patterns show up across engineering teams, projects, and companies. Different context, same underlying problems. You might recognize some of these.
- 5th day working on simple fix which required thousands of changed lines cause of previous bad design decisions
- Untangling security requirement of enterprise customer without knowing where to start
- Tracing a single request across dozens of services
- Endless meetings and still no clarity on what's actually needed
- Hunting for rare race condition causing outage 3rd month already
- Not sure which AI tool or model to use and trust
- Coding the authentication lib inhouse for 3rd time
- Trying to save costs by building own CI pipeline
- Spending time on polishing non-strategic routine codebase
- Deciding to finally maintain your focus window for 5th time this year
- Fine tuning the new AI coding tool every month, still don't believe the outputs
- Thrown out the 3rd useless AI-spagetti for the same feature request
- You see the direction, but struggle to explain it
- Decisions get delayed, questioned, or ignored
- Discussions with other engineers in the team / architects in company don't lead anywhere
- You're stuck between speed and quality
- Architecture decision taken last month silently ignored by half of the teams
- Career conversations don't lead to clarity
- Team uses AI tools heavily, but not sure how to measure what has changed
Behind the craft: My journey and approach
I am a Software Engineering Lead dedicated to the craft of engineering and the growth of the people who build it.
I've spent more than 20 years designing and scaling distributed systems in production (from large corporations to startups), working across architecture and technical leadership.
My background is in Computer Science, with hands-on experience in high-scale systems, primarily in the Java and Kotlin ecosystem.
I focus on technical coaching and mentoring, working with engineers on real situations — understanding the system, the decisions behind it, and the trade-offs that come with it.
You don’t need another framework. You might need another conversation.
We start with a free 20–30 minute intro session to align expectations and define how we'll work together.
Unmapped territory, no clear path → let's start with coaching.
I bring structure, ask the right questions, and help you navigate the situation.
Known territory, defined problem → mentoring is what you are looking for.
I bring experience, context, patterns, and perspective.
One session: 60 minutes
Check-ins: 15–30 min (feedback, quick decisions, support)
This isn't a one-off. The value comes from applying it in real decisions and day-to-day work.
Become high-impact engineer. Deliver value far beyond the technical.
What others say about working with me
What I appreciated most about coaching with Jimi was the calm he brings. It didn’t matter whether we met online or in person, or how tangled my thinking was when I came in.
His calm, focused attention gave me a real sense of safety. Because of that, I was able to freely explore what was going on, what I needed to approach differently, and how to move forward.
And as a bonus, without Jimi ever trying to force it, I always left our sessions more focused and calmer.
Jirka’s broad perspective and experience quickly highlighted my weak spots, for example in communication protocols. At the same time, it pushed me to go deeper into those areas.
What I valued most was the flexibility Jirka brought throughout the mentoring. His practical and human approach helped me rethink and set better priorities.
Thanks to our sessions, I gained more confidence in my decisions and improved my ability to guide my team forward.
I was focused on transitioning from senior to principal, specifically on navigating interdepartmental friction and overcoming perceived communication barriers with more experienced colleagues.
Jiri helped me reframe conflict as a tool for achieving better results, rather than viewing it as a negative obstacle. More importantly, Jiri helped me realize that many of my communication hurdles were internal mindset issues, rather than external obstacles. His pragmatic approach and ability to cut through the noise allowed us to focus on actionable growth.
Coaching often helped me clarify my priorities. As we worked through a problem and unpacked it, I frequently uncovered feelings I hadn't been able to decipher on my own. That then helped me realize whether the issue really mattered to me that much and was that important, or whether I had simply over-complicated it in my own head.
Jiří can help a person find what matters in chaos and organize it in such a way that new ideas and solutions come almost on their own.
